For more than 34 million borrowers working in the public and non-profit sectors, Public Service Loan Forgiveness offers a pathway to debt forgiveness. But it isn’t always easy to access. 

The Department of Education’s temporary waiver led to $45 million in PSLF relief by allowing borrowers to receive credit for past payments, but only one-fifth of potential beneficiaries had their debt forgiven.
